At last, my website AScottGalloway.net is a reality.
It’s been a long time comin’. Some would say (and have said) waaay too long! However, as my man Lou Rawls once bellowed: All Things In Time.
I never set out to be a writer… My dreams were to be a radio DJ and a drummer. Yet, over the decades, I have written interviews, CD liner note essays, artist bios, concert reviews, album and single reviews, obituaries, appreciations, songs, short stories, erotica, letters, edited books and more.
My goal for AScottGalloway.net is to make available the 4+ decades of my past work of which I am very, very proud – while also sharing new content on a weekly basis concerning a broad range of focuses. From Year #1, I was ever-cognizant I was creating a catalog that primarily but not exclusively found me reveling in my favorite subject: Music. I especially cherish the interviews I conducted with so many amazing creatives. I saved almost every tape, micro-cassette, and digital file since my second one: an in-studio chat with “Fancy” Ms. Nancy Wilson.
My very first interview was a phoner with soul songwriter supreme Clarence “Skip” Scarborough for which I scribbled copious notes but failed to record. THAT was a hard lesson. I was too ashamed to call back to ask Skip to go over all those classic songs one more time. Not long after…he was gone. Painful.
I possess audio of my vast interviews, transcripts, high-res photo copies, jpegs, digital links, audio and video of people interviewing me on TV and podcasts, etc.
I hope everyone understands that I must monetize this catalog. Yet I am also compelled to “give back” some of what I have been blessed. I imagine I will be writing until my final days… I also believe that what I have already done – published and non-published – will be a blessing for professional purposes as well as enviable entertainment.
I have always believed my work has value because of the passion with which I pursued and enjoyed it first. I have written about legends and newbies, artists in all genres of music as well as behind the scenes technicians. It is this breadth of subjects and subject matter that make my collected work unique and priceless.
